119. STRONG GIRLS!!!!!!!
*** THREE STEREOTYPES OUR GIRLS HAVE PROVEN WRONG ***
We have some AWESOME female members at The Conditioning Centre. They get in, crack on with the StronGirl Solution and challenge themselves and their bodies week in week out.
In the process they have blown some of the typical stereotypes out of the water in terms of what people think about girls and the gym, and in particular lifting weights. Things such as...
- GIRLS AREN'T AS STRONG AS GUYS.
Sure we have guys squatting 200kg+ and no girls doing that... but in pretty much every way our girls are as strong as our guys, and in some ways even stronger.
We have numerous girls squatting over 1.5x their own bodyweight, a standard marker for strength in guys. We also have girls deadlifting well over double bodyweight with ease, another typically male marker of strength.
This is even more impressive when the relative muscle mass is so much lower. With some of our girls in the 50-60kg category, that isn't much person lifting lots of weight.
They are recruiting everything they have and putting it to good use and using great technique. They don't just brute it out like the big guys. They get under the bar and execute. Plus, girls will beat guys at an 80% AMRAP set. Every. Time.
- GIRLS ARE SCARED OF GETTING BULKY. Wrong.
Our girls are not scared of getting bulky, because they know it doesn’t happen.
Our girls have seen what kind of muscle you can expect to build as a female in the gym following a properly designed programme, and they love it and want more.
It makes them fitter and stronger, adds shape to their physique, earns them recognition for their hard work and helps them eat more by having more metabolically expensive lean mass.
They can see it's wins all round.
Ain't no girls in our gym scared of getting guy style broad shoulders and thick legs because they know that's not going to happen.
They're just pursuing a firmer figure that shows they look after themselves and are STRONG.
- GIRLS JUST WANNA GROW A PEACHY ASS.
We're beyond that one-dimensional aim because girls are too, and they have been for ages.
Our girls don't want to just do endless glute kickbacks, high rep squats, hip thrusts and mini band work, and they don't want to be told that that's all they should aspire to do in the gym either.
It's not just about how they look to others.
Our girls feel strong, in control, fit, they learn about training, nutrition and lifestyle and challenge themselves physically and mentally each session.
This is a proper set of outcomes from a training programme, and things that are heard earned that they can be truly proud of.
Our girls are StronGirls, and we know there are plenty more of you out there.
Come and define who you are. Not who people say you should be.
